Has anybody ever taken their rabbit(s) from the US to Korea? If you have, is there any permits or forms you have to get signed?

Not sure if I’ve ever heard of that! Are you moving or just travelling?

I would suggest asking your vet, and maybe calling the embassy’s and border contacts?

          Quite a few google results
There’s some contact info in this article

I’m traveling there for summer break and don’t want to leave my rabbits in California alone at a boarding center for like 4 months… I’d much prefer to travel with them.

Since you posted in the other thread that you don’t even have your rabbits yet, I wonder if it would be better to wait until after you are back home to get the rabbits. Travel can be stressful to rabbits, especially long trips to another country, and it would be very stressful if they had to be quarantined. Any of that could upset their GI tracts, and could lead to stasis. Also, a change in hay, pellets or veggies could cause problems for them. It would be difficult to take the quantities of the brands of  hay they are used to, with you. If you took them, you would have to make sure that there is a good rabbit savvy vet available to you, who would have any of the needed medicines for any condition that they might develop.

I actually travel a lot since I don’t exactly live in California and my rabbits are being prescribed to me as ESA for severe anxiety and pretty bad depression. I already know a lot of rabbit savvy vets in Korea and many other countries because I’ve been doing my research obsessively (i literally spend like 6 hrs a day searching ways to take care of rabbits and how to travel with them). They will be flying in cabin with me so I will be able to Critical Care feed them if they stop eating and I think I can avoid quarantine or qualify for home quarantine if I get my paperworks done ASAP. I’m sure I can order on Amazon or other sites I normally buy their food from and send it over to the country I go to so I can ensure that they don’t experience too much change. I will also be bringing their collapsible 61 inch playpen with me to ensure that they have a familiar object and surrounding when I arrive. I’m just trying to ensure the best possible methods I can take care of them and avoid conflict. I also can’t get any other pets since I’m allergic to like 8 different animals excluding rabbits.

I don’t know anything about this to help, however make sure you also research bringing rabbits into the USA from Korea, as there’s probably quarantine, fees, forms and other things you need to work through to be able to bring them back. Bunnies don’t have passports

I researched bringing rabbits into the US and it says that I just need to have a vet health certificate stating that my rabbit is healthy. Apparently in the US, there is no restrictions for rabbits and some other types of rodents
That’s why I’m more concerned about flying with them out of the US than flying back into the US.

You will likely need to get them vaccinated while in Korea. For RHD (calici) and possibly myxomatosis also. Do check there are no restrictions on bring vaccinated rabbits back into the States. Also check you’re able to bring rabbits back out of Korea. China, for example, does not allow this.

The other thing I would check is you will be able to get a good supply of their food. Especially hay.

Regarding allergies, I have heard of some people reacting to some rabbits but not others. Maybe it’d be best to meet the bunnies several times before being home. Even have them on a trial period before you adopt.

Oh I see, I didn’t know Korea had vaccination rules.. I’ve read that you can take rabbits back out of Korea from a website. This lady and her husband travelled back to Canada and brought her two rabbits with her and she wrote that she needed to get a vet health certificate to be let through the airport.

I’ve actually got my allergies tested with an scratch test from an allergist. Apparently, I’m allergic to a bunch of different animals excluding rabbits..
