So, my bunny who is a year old, almost two, is possibly getting neutered soon. I came across a spayed 3 year old mini lop female bunny, and would love to have her. The owner said that when meeting the bunny, Fin (my bunny) would also have to meet her, to see if they’re okay with eachother. Fin isn’t neutered, so I’m very nervous, even just for introducing them. Is it okay to introduce them, when Fin isn’t fixed, but the girl is? Will a problem happen? And, if things work out, do I have to wait until the Fin is neutered to try bonding them, or can I start bonding them before he is fixed.

No, you should not let Fin meet this bunny until he has been neutered. Before bonding is attempted, both the rabbits have to be spayed and neutered, and there needs to be a recuperation period of at least 2 weeks, to make sure the rabbit is healed from surgery and to make sure that all the hormones are flushed out. Rabbits can fight and severely injure each other. They must be spayed and neutered and properly bonded to prevent that.

Here are a couple of good articles on bonding: http://rabbit.org/faq-bonding-multiple-rabbits/ and https://binkybunny.com/BUNNYINFO/tabid/53/CategoryID/9/PID/940/Default.aspx.

Just for a different perspective my vet said I could bond an intact male with a sprayed female. She was from a breeder but had kindling problems and needed a home because giving birth could kill her.

Have not tried it yet because she has to recover from traumatic (stillborn) birth 🙁 and needs several months before surgery.

An unneutered male is likely to want to constantly hump a female. The female is not going to like that and that’s when the fighting will ensue.

Best to get the bunny neutered first, I’m afraid.

I think the difference in opinion comes from whether it will result in pregnancy (in which case it’s safe) or whether it’s likely the male bun will harass the female for sex (which is likely, though not absolute).
