Rookie has been doing this thing where if he appears to “concentrate” or when he sits still for a pause he grinds his teeth once. Like a single grind. He does it once but twice at most with a decent pause in between. He does it when he takes a pause grooming or a pause to look at something. I know for a fact that he is a tooth grinder when he sleeps and dreams.
Could this be a sign of a tooth problem? Should I be worried? I havent been able to look at his teeth as he is not exactly keen on showing them off. He was at the vet in November the latest but I think it was closer to beginning of December. Then they said his teeth were okay.

Bum….Rookie was at my parents for a week as I was away. My parents love him too much and therefore true to grand bunny parents they were generous with his treats. He also doesn’t exactly have great litter box habits there. He goes on the puppy pad in the same spot but not in the box…don’t know why. The puppy pad doesn’t soak up as well as the bedding. So cause of the treats his poop was a bit softer and he had more of the soft type poops that’s he didn’t eat and because of not using the litter box he was able to sit into it better than in the litter box…his butt was often wet from the pee when he hoped away after using it.

So now I noticed that his fur is a bit yellow at the base of the tail and around his bum. I also found one bundle of fur and poop stuck there. I tried to cut it out but he hoped away and it’s too close for comfort to his bum. Is that something I should be worried about? It’s been there at least a week now since I’ve been trying to somehow get it off or out…

I considered a bath…but I don’t think it’s worth it yet. The stress to him or me…he doesn’t like being picked up so I never do….can’t imagine having to bath him…

I feel bad making another appointment to the vet as hee is already scared of the carrier as he has been there quiet a few times now.I also feel embarrassed having to go to the vet yet AGAIN… although I kind of have to make an appointment as I need his nails trimmed…and I cant do it and I don’t trust the groomer or anyone else doing it other than the vet.

Any thought will be appreciated. Sorry for the short novel.

I don’t think there’s anything unusual in the tooth grinding. Bandit would occasionally do a similar thing when he was just lounging around, give a single tooth grind. I always took it as a general sound of content.

In regards to the matted poop. He really should have a butt bath, just an inch of lukewarm water in a tub. If you’re not confident doing that and he’s due for a vet visit for a nail trim anyway, there’s no reason you can’t take him to have his nails cut, they can rinse off his bum and double check the teeth while you’re there.

It’s only a small bit not a huge knot. I’ve been checking and he is not getting new ones nor is this one getting bigger.

I just read about the baths when I was considering it and it seemed the cons out weighed the pros.

So I figured I’d wait for a vet visit and if it’s still there then just get it looked at. I was hoping it would just fall out with the shedding hair.

I hate going to the vet more than he does I think. I feel like they keep judging me for having to keep bringing him in.

A vet would never judge you negatively for it. Better to bring your pet in more often than not at all. Think of all the people that never take their pets to the vet. Your vet will love that you are so concerned for Rookie’s welfare.

If Leopold is mad about something, he will actually do one quick tooth grind to show his displeasure. I always thought it was weird, but he doesn’t have any tooth problems that we know of.

Not sure anyone we’ll see thus as this has been an older post…
But rookie’s bum isn’t getting any better.
I was hoping that he’ll fix it on his own. I also adjusted his diet a bit by reducing the treats back down and no results.
I know I can’t give him a bath on my own so I will make an appointment with the vet for next week.
Any ideas and suggestions on what may cause him being all sticky bum?
He gets kale and romaine lettuce twice a day, a handful of pellets, and hay which is unlimited but he doesnt care for it very much. He eats more greens than hay.
I tried forcing him to eat hay by not giving him any greens but he instead just won’t eat. I don’t have the heart to starve him into eating hay.
I considered just not leaving out greens for him when I got work for 10 hours so he’ll have to eat hay and I don’t see him being hungry but I’m scared doing that without supervision. …
                  Help!

Does he actually have poop stuck to his rear?

Has the vet looked at his teeth? Tooth problems can cause poopy butt. Otherwise, it would be a process of elimination when it comes to foods causing the problem.

No he hasn’t been to the vet yet. And yes he has yellow pee and poops stuck to his butt. But then in the litter box I don’t see too many of his soft poops. Just once or twice maybe.
I haven’t noticed anything about his teeth. He eats hard foods just like before.
He is also doing less of the one or two grinds he has done before from what I have noticed.
I think he does that when he is thinking or just after grooming himself. So maybe he is cleaning some hairs his teeth.
