My rabbit didn’t eat his pellets this morning and he still hasn’t touched them. He is however eating his hay and has eat some watercress. I’m just a little concerned because he normally goes mad for his pellets and eat them just fine last night. I did hear him grinding his teeth a little bit earlier and have read that they sometimes do that when they are in pain?

If mine do this, I give a dose of semethicone, followed by a tummy massage, straight away. If nothing is wrong, no harm done, and it usually gets them back in pellet mood quite well within a couple of hours. I can only buy the little capsules, so I snip the end off, hold bunny secure, and squeeze the contents into the side of the mouth.

He doesn’t seem to be pooping now, do you think he’s constipated? What can I do to help him or give him?

Did you try giving him the baby simethicone yet? If he isn’t pooping and since he was making sounds indicating pain, you should go ahead and take him to the vet. He may need fluids and a motility drug, plus something for pain.

Hiya, my rabbit Poe experienced something similar, where he went through stages of not eating his pellets, but would eat hay and veg (but in really small quantities), he would do this frequently so we decided to take him to the vet, they gave him 2 injections (one for pain relief and the other to get his gut moving), as well as some medicine to take home for similar purposes. The meds really helped and he slowly built up his appetite.
They gave another appointment to get his dental checked out- this maybe the reason why your bun isnt eating (maybe cos pellets are harder than hay).
Although Poe had only minor dental problems, it was due to stress that he stopped eating as much- perhaps this could also be why.

We have poops this morning!! & he ate his pellets! We only gave him a very smell amount though and topped up his hay a lot. Do you think he still needs to go to the vets? He was running around and doing his usual happy buzzing noise?

If he is eating well and making normal poop, plus being active then it sounds like he is coming out of the GI stasis or gas episode on his own. It’s probably okay to wait on the vet, unless you would feel better having him checked out. Carefully monitor him and if he shows any signs of the gut slowdown again, then take him to the vet.

Sounds like a touch of gas. I agree with Toby…monitor carefully the next little while to make sure whatever was bothering him doesn’t recur.
