Hey all, my name is John. I just got a 16 week old Netherland Dwarf this past weekend. I’ve always wanted a rabbit, and with my dogs living several states away with my partner I was really missing having a furry creature around for some affection. Given that I live in an apartment I thought this very cute, small breed would be perfect. Hoping to get some advice on basic care and training here.

         Thanks!

              Welcome John – good decision.
Keep all cables OUT of the way !! LOL (and wallpaper, and wooden stuff, and anything you like !)
Litter training will make your life easier as will handling him all you can… get him used to you.
If you want to train him, they are VERY food motivated !
Be careful if he’s a ‘jumper’ – he’ll escape if the sides aren’t high enough.
              Other than that, Enjoy !!!

                Welcome!!

                And congrats!

As Vienna says, electric cables must be either protected or kept out of the way. If a bun chews a cord he can eletrocute himself and/or set your house on fire. Chewing thin wires like charger-wires and ear-phone wires won’t kill a bun, but it’s a nuisance for you.

Litter training is a great idea. You’ll find lots of tips in our BUNNY INFO as tobylove says. And please ask all questions that you might have, we’ll try and answer them as best as we can =)

Hello there and welcome to the world of house rabbits Get ready for a steep learning curve if you’re new to bunnies. They’re very cheeky and like to get away with whatever they can. Keep shoes, clothes, bags, cables, books and as people have said, everything you like out of bunny’s reach (on the couch is not out of reach). Litter training can be fairly straight forward and makes life much easier. Just sweep up stray poops and pop them in the litter tray, for pee accidents wipe them up with paper towel and put that in the litter tray too. Bunny will soon get the hang of it

A little skittish at first and lots of bonding time (about 5 weeks) and you will have a cool little friend. Plenty of good advice here. Welcome new bunny slave . Oh yea they love a bunny friend too something to think about once you and your fuzzy friend have bonded.
