        Hi guys,

I’ve got a 2 month old female Lionhead rabbit and I’ve had her for a month now. She has successfully bonded with me for the past two weeks but now I wanna get a second baby rabbit so it can keep her company. I’m planning to bond another female baby rabbit to her. I wanted to know if the bonding process with baby rabbits is similar to that of adult rabbits. Or would it be much easier for baby rabbits to get along well?

Wait if you had her for a month and she is two months that means you got her when she was one month?! Well that’s way too young for someone to be giving you a rabbit and I dont actually know anhing about your question I just pointed that she is too young.

Bonding two females is a lot of very hard work most times. I’ve been trying to bond mine for 4 months and they still fight. Bonding her with a male would be much easier. Also do not do any bonding until she and which ever other bun you choose are fixed. They will not bond successfully if they are not fixed. I can’t stress that enough!

Baby bunnies can be fairly easy to bond, but when they reach sexual maturity ( 5 months or earlier) they will have to be separated to prevent fighting – which can lead to serious injuries. In order to bond rabbits that have reached sexual maturity, they both have to be spayed or neutered. So, if you got another bunny now, she could be with your bunny for a short while, but they would have to be separated in a couple of months, then re-bonded after their surgeries and recuperation periods. The easier option may be to wait until your rabbit is spayed, then get another rabbit to be her companion at that point. If you get a rabbit from a rescue, most or all of them will be spayed or neutered, which save you trouble and expense. As RosieSatellite said, it is generally easier to bond a female with a male, spayed and neutered, of course.

Here is one good article on bonding:
