The rabbits are going on an 18+ hour car ride tomorrow, while I move to Florida.

I have made a travel cage out of NIC cubes, enclosed, with WSP bedding so they won’t have to sit in wet urine or anything.

        They will have food/water.

The car is temp controlled and I won’t be stopping except to go the bathroom (which I will try to not stop much at all, since I am alone and that would mean leaving them in a locked car by themselves).

Any tips on taking such a long trip with them? I have them and the parrot.

How long is the car ride? You might need to stop more than you think. Rabbits need food in their system at all times. Rabbits will Not eat in a moving vehicle because they will be so stress out. You will need to make a stop every hour or so to make sure they can eat something and you will physically have to give them the drink other wise they won’t. Bring supplies for syringe feeding.

It’s 18+ hours. I know Powder doesn’t mind eating in the car (he munches on hay on the way to the vet, most laid back bunny ever). But, hrm, Stickers is more skittish. I can stop to give them salad and stuff if needed, I just don’t want to stop for me much, cause that would mean leaving them in the car… and I don’t want to leave them in the car by themselves much. I’ll be stopping for the night once I reach my cousin’s house, bringing them in and continuing in the morning… that’s 12 hours if straight driving, so 12-14.

About how often do people suggest stopping to give them a little break ?

What are your opinions on pet stress remedies like this Bach one?

Ironically, I am moving FROM Florida lol. But I am going to Toronto so the drive total is 25 hours, but each leg will be 8 hours long. I will also be doing this alone. Stress levels rising , lol. I have two young bunnies

I believe its recommended to stop every one or two hours, three hours max, to give them a little break. Car rides can really stress rabbits out to the point they may not eat or drink while the car is moving. My Blue refused to eat unless we were fully haulted for about 5 minutes before he would feel comfortable enough to eat; we stopped every hour on a three hour ride to make sure he was doing ok. Rabbits have to eat every few hours to ensure they dont mess up their GI track, so stopping as often as possible within reason will really help your furry friend out. Also make sure the cage/crate is secure so they dont end up falling or sliding around while you are driving

To help with stress, bring treats and offer tons of extra pets during your break stops. Treats can help the rabbit know they are ok and the pets will help them feel reassured. A little extra food and water during the breaks might help too. Also be ready to experience the bunny butt treatment after the long ride is over if your rabbit isnt happy. They should still eat and drink normal after, but might be a little tired or just plain unhappy. Give them time to settle into their new place, and again, offer tons of love so they dont think theyre being abandoned some place strange
