        Hello again!

I have two rescued rabbits, a male neutered holland lop and a female spayed lionhead. They took forever to bond, but I was determined as the female that I rescued had been returned to the shelter three times from bunny parent unable to bond her to their buns.

The sad thing is she wasn’t even the problem, it was my male being very aggressive. The female is just very skittish and easily scared.

So they ended up bonding after a few months and they really do seem t love each other, but sometimes the male bullies her. I understand that that is a dominance thing but sometimes I am afraid that he keeps her from her food? He will run at her sometimes when she goes near the dish and I am afraid she is not getting enough to eat. I try to bring the food to her but then she wont eat.

        Any thought?

I have a very dominant little girl when it comes to food time, even though she is clearly devoted to her bunny boyfriend outside of food time, she chases poor Pippin away from food. She lived wild for a while and was quite underweight when we rescued her, which is probably partly why.

The way I deal with it is to spread to food around over a decent size area. They always have two large boxes full of hay, so if Jenny chases Pippi out of one, he can simply go to the other. With pellets, I sprinkle them all over the floor, which is good for them, like foraging, and with greens, I break them up into lots of smaller bits, and spread them around too. Maybe you could try something similar?
