I am new to binky bunny as a member, but love the site. I have an almost 2 year male mini lop who is the love of my life. He was recently to the vet and has always been very healthy. As of yesterday I noticed very small, dry poos. The small dry pops continued into today. I have been feeding him wet romaine romaine curly parsley and wet pineapple chunks- he has been eating all of this. Fresh water. Watching him very closely. What is the problem? I tried grabbing his belly and I think it is a little firm, but it could be my paranoia. Today, he left a few malformed cecotropes as well, only 2, but then continued to have small dry poos and some small pearls. Please! Any help! I will bring him to vet tomorrow if no improvement I called her and she did not seem overly concerned.

My bunnies have smaller poops once in a while. I would try not to worry as long as he is still eating and there are a decent amount of poops. Make sure you serve his greens really wet and maybe try adding a bit of apple juice to the water to encourage drinking.

I agree. It could be a sign of dehydration or even stress.

Thank you for responding to me. I am at work and so is my boyfriend I just sent my dad to check on him and he said he was laying in front of the mirror and got up circling and showing off LOL I will get him some sugar free apple juice on my way home. Vet said if I want I could bring him for fluids. Recently bought a new bed and it is higher up from the ground. He makes it up fine, but that is the only major change since the change of poop. Thanks again

Update: Help/advice needed. Little man has been eating and drinking all day. Last night made a lot of almost normal sized normal colored poops. Today they have been somewhat soft and pearls and sometimes sticking to his bottom. He is shedding very badly. What do I do from here? I am now encouraging as much hay as possible. Any other recommendations to I need to bring him in to the vet?

it’s probably due to his heavy shedding, they tend to get upset tummies when they shed. Try and comb/brush off as much fur as you can, this is not caused by ingesting fur but ingesting fur puts additional strain on his tummy.

Grass hay is normally the remedy for this type of thing. It’s due to a disruption of the gut microbiota. Here’s an article on soft poop:

If he looses his appetite, if he stops having round fecals as well as this sticky wet poop or if it persists for a very long time, you should call your vet.
