        Hello everyone,

I’m brand new to this forum, so please excuse me if I’m misusing it with this post as a new topic etc…

Basically, I see many pictures of other people’s bun lying on their sides completely relaxed with their heads flat to the ground and eyes shut sleeping like babies. I have only ever seen my rabbit in this state once about a month ago and I genuinely thought she was dead!! (I am new to keeping a rabbit so I’m still learning and reading about them constantly). Obviously she wasn’t and she soon jumped up when I poked her in the butt but that was the only time I’ve seen her in that position. She does flop with her back legs out regularly but her head is always upright and eyes half shut. I’m aware that bun’s can snooze with their eyes half open but is she really getting proper rest this way? She doesn’t seem tired and has more than enough energy so this doesn’t seem likely, but I’m just wondering if anyone else’s bun never rests completely flat out on one side?

I’d greatly appreciate any responses, feedback or suggestions!

        Thank you

Yes. That’s completely normal. They have lots of sleeping positions. A lot of times they did it without you looking at them!

            I think that’s probably normal.

My little one flops out on his side when he’s relaxing, but he sleeps in the loaf position. Always. Sometimes eyes closed, sometimes open… to keep an eye on mom, I suspect. lol

One time I found my rabbit on her side.. with legs out and everything with her eyes open!!! Her head fully down laying on her side like that. It was quite scary… Lol she was sleeping but she looked dead. I actually have a photo of it.
