So the past few days Peter has been pooping a lot of cecetropes but does not eat them. The also are not in the “tight little bunches” but rather like a normal sized poop. He poops about 15-20 of those but then goes back to his regular healthy poops but with like one transition poop between them ( half regular with a little mush) his regular poops are perfect and the perfect size but I just don’t know about his cecetropes. I know every rabbit is different but I just don’t know if this is a normal behavior.

          What’s his diet like?

I give him about two tablespoons of oxbow adult pellets in the morning and evening, a lot of Timothy hay ( he’s a big hay eater) a piece of papaya, half a probio cookie and maybe a small treat during some part of the day. For greens he gets about a cup parsley and 1 romaine leaf

Some bunnies has sensitive tummies and certain foods can trigger poopy butt (cecals stuck to their rear). You could try ruling things out as a trigger by taking things out one at a time.

I read that this oftentimes occurs when the diet is too high in carbohydrates, do you think I should limit the pellets to one table spoon in the morning and one in the evening?

They can produce extras due to a rich diet, yes. That’s why baby bunnies will often have uneaten cecals. They are often getting alfalfa-based foods. Just looking at what you’re feeding your bunny now, I don’t think the problem is simply too much rich food (timothy-based pellets and grass hay). That’s why I suggested cutting things out one at a time to see what the trigger is because he may have a sensitive stomach. I would start with any fruit you’re giving him. Some bunnies do have to be pellet-less, but it seems more often times it’s fruit or starchy foods like carrots that cause the problem. I’m just speaking from what I’ve witnessed here on BB.

Just for a follow up, his trigger ended up being pellets, i decreased them to 4tsp in the morning and 4 in the evening and have not had problems since i switched him

                      Thank you for the follow-up!

I’m glad you’re not having the problems anymore. Yay for a success-story!
