Hi all! Doodle’s about 6 months now, and it’s about time for him to get neutered. I have quite a few vets in my area, however, the lowest price I was quoted was $275, and the highest was $400! I’ve been calling around like crazy to see if there’s a cheaper price, but I do want what’s best for my bun so will probably go for the most trustworthy vet despite the price. There’s a reputable vet that claims to spay for around 80-150, so I’ll call tomorrow to double-check.

How much was your bun’s spay/neuter? Is 400 in the range of what you’d pay?

My vet charged $125 for a neuter, $150 for a spay. This was over 5 years ago. The prices vary widely across the country and between vets. I know there are several members here who have had to pay $400 or more for a neuter or spay. Do you have an animal shelter near you that adopts out bunnies? You could call and ask if they know of a vet that does low cost neuters/spays.

I paid 300 for a spay at my bunny vet, and 200 for a neuter. I second LBJ’s suggestion of calling animal rescues. Often they have deals with reputable vets to get low-cost neuters.

I was quoted $190 to spay Roza at my regular vet’s office, and the office does have a vet that specializes in rabbits. She is scheduled to be spayed next Thursday, but I am thinking about calling the shelter and seeing who they use as there is a little guy that just got neutered a couple days ago there. It’s so expensive, but I don’t want to compromise the quality of the spay either. Very tough decision.

My buck was 85, and the doe was 110. No problems whatsoever.

Mine are both rescues, bonus of that it, it is already done and I think one bunny cost $35 and the other costed $50 total. Adopt don’t shop !

I see my vets prices are $80 for neuter and $105 for spay.

Hi, I’m not sure what area you are in but around nyc there are mobile neuter/spay programs that do it as low as $5.00. I’m not 100% sure if they do rabbits, last time I spoke to someone they said they did. Also, the Aspca for NY, NJ all have very low spay programs and usually in April they usually do free spays for a day but you have to sign up early for that if you want them to save your pet a spot. They definitely do rabbits that I do know of. This site http://www.nootersclub.org/lowcostspayneuter.htm lists a bunch of lost cost participating spay/neuter programs throughout the country and Canada. My bunny’s vet quoted me 350.00 minimum or more. I will be going through HRS when it is time. 50.00 for bucks through them and 95.00 for does in my state.
