Toward the end of September I went to a rescue with my best friend with absolutely no intention of leaving with a rabbit.( please don’t say wow why would you get a rabbit upon impulse without knowing anything. Yes it was impulse but I had had a bunny before so I knew what I was doing) Little did I know I would be leaving with my little bubba(Thumper). At a rescue you would think they would show some care for more than just the dogs clearly not here. ( I will not name any names or say the name of the rescue) and there he sat in a glass container toward the front. I had never seen a lionhead before. Everyone was like he’s so ugly which is why he’s never been adopted. I found that so disgusting because he wasn’t ugly. He was 3 months old still with ALL of his baby fluff he was a double mane who never saw a brush in his life. He couldn’t see because no one cared to trim the fur around his eyes. And his paws were stained with urine. And his nails were over grown. No wonder people thought he was ugly. He wasn’t properly taken care of. So I adopted him 50$ adoption fee 60$ cage fee 20$ food fee and a 20$ toy fee. As soon as I got home I took him into my room and set him on my bed. I got a wet wash cloth and cleaned his paws from all the urine trimmed his nails( a lady at petco taught me how) I took a pet brush and the amount of fur that came off of him was crazy. By now he was extremely handsome. I set him on the floor to go explore and right away he did a binky his excitement gave me an insight into his past how excited he was to be free and be loved.$150 later he’s my best friend my world and my cuddler. I regret nothing. I’m happy I adopted my fluff ball and tomorrow as we go to the vet to get him neutered I’m extremely scared because I don’t want to lose him to early.

Let’s move on to Charlie Brown ( disclaimer he is from a breeder but read the story before you judge.)
Charlie Brown a 4 month old lion head bunny I had been in search for a buddy for thump and I looked a rescues but for some reason they didn’t have bunnies at the time. So I searched for a breeder I found one in Illinois. I went there and as soon as I came in the house there was Charlie sitting in a basket looking at me. She sat down with me and did a complete health check with me watching so I knew he was good. Then she said I don’t ever except money if the rabbit isn’t 100% I asked what was wrong Charlie’s top teeth hadn’t grown in yet so she just gave him to me (they are in now). Before I had gotten him she made sure to ask if I had considered adoption first and I had but there were no rabbits in the shelter at the time. She took me out back to her rabbitry and wow these rabbits were so well taken care of an NOT over populated. She said she doesn’t breed the mom right after her litter is born she gives them a break and doesn’t breed if she has more than a certain amount of rabbits. she is a responsible owner and breeder who does rabbit shows and Charlie has been a great addition to my family.
