My name is Matt. I’m new to the forum. I got into bunnies about a year ago when I took in a baby wild eastern Cottontail. I had him for 3 months. Despite being wild I managed to tame him. We used to watch TV and he would sit with me and was surprisingly calm. On occasion I would feed him carrots occasionally.

Sadly, 3 months after I got him I found him he passed away. I later determined he died of E. Cuniculi. “The sniffles”.

Shortly after loosing Peter, I met a friend from a group of weather watchers (I’m a weather nut) who is a rabbit breeder who raises mini rex bunnies particularly BEW bunnies. He got me back into rabbits and I began searching for domestic bunnies. Last week I got my first domestic bunny, a Polish Rabbit named Rascal from a neighbor who’s daughter was in FFA but got out of it.

I love that bunny like a child. He’s still getting used to the new house but he’s warming up to me. Gives kissies through the screen on the hutch.

I’m planning on setting up another hutch in an old dog pen in the backyard and him having a run of the little pen.

          Welcome!
We have another member here who had a wild cottontail named Peter, Cottontail. Very cute.
Congrats on your new bunny! We would love to see pictures.
Is there any way your bunny can live inside? Indoor bunnies are generally healthier and make better pets.

He is inside. His hutch is beside the dresser. I have a new xpen. Today Rascal was doing lots of bunny binkies. I think I might enter him into bunny acrobatics. Lol.

Welcome! Aww, bunny binkies! That’s awesome!! Your rabbit sounds wonderful. The story that you had with the other cottontail rabbit was very sweet. I’ve heard of Polish rabbits, they all sound very intelligent.
