yesterday i got a new bunny. she is approx 9-12 weeks old, and a netherland dwarf rabbit. she licks everything, she licks my hands, she licks my face, my clothes. she even bits at my clothes and pulls. i know in other forums it says that this is a sign of affection. but she had already been doing this when i first brought her home, so i dont think she could be this insanely affectionate after only having her for an hour. anyone know other reasons why she might be doing this?

        thx xxx

I think she’s telling you she’s a good girl, please be kind, I won’t make trouble, let’s be good friends.

My bunny Bam also licked my skin the moment I caught him (he was abandoned outside). Since he’d never met me before, it could not have been affection.

Bunnies like to groom their friends, and your bunny is probably wondering a little bit about the strange fur you have (clothes). Since a bunny can bite through nearly every material known to man, I suggest you wear old clothes that you don’t care about to begin with, until she’s understood the concept of clothes.

Baby tends to lick a lot more ,they love everything. it also could be because the bunny is using her tongue as one of the senses. My bunny used to do the same thing when she was a baby. I encouraged that behavior and she is a big locker til this day. ?

My bunny licked from day 1 too. She was 8 and a half weeks at the time and now she is 13 and half and she literally licks everything. Especially when you pet her she starts licking the floor and then moves her way up to skin. Sometimes she nibbles on clothes but hasn’t made holes or really bitten hard at it. She has also nibbled on skin too but I think she was just testing textures out at the time because now she doesn’t nibble on skin.

Thank you for your replies! I was worried that it meant something bad, but it sounds like things normal. Coco is a very happy bunny and does lots of binkys! I think it’s a combination of using it as a sense and being a loving bunny! Xx
