Right now I use baby gates around the walls, trying to protect our furniture and electrical components, but they’re hideously ugly, and don’t shape-to-fit curves or angles.

I use spray deterrent and water bottle correction. I also move everything I can high off the floor, but the little turd jumps up into my planter containers to eat plants, and on tables, then drops down to get into off limits area!

I need something at least 6-8 inches high and 2ft high – but I will take what I can get and make it work.

        Thanks.

        Sincerely,

        Bunneh Mom In Distress

Not sure what exactly its called (just google “green plastic fence) but its this plastic fence like material that we use. We got it at Ace but most hardware stores sell it, and weve bought 3 different rolls for 3 different heights. We use them to wrap around the computer desks and at one point made a temporary gate out of it using nails in the walls. We just use zipties for around the desk.

            Is this the one?

She won’t chew through the plastic?

Or is it just to slow her down?

            Thx for the tip!

Yea that looks like it! I would look in the actual stores though, as some have thicker areas of plastic than anothers. We did end up replacing a section now and then from chews, but they gave up quite quickly lol

Hmm… I think I got really lucky when Chewie picked me to be his mommy, because he’s never really been a destructo-bun. But just because I want to avoid any potential booboos, I found that (A) having lots of safe distractions goes a looong way toward keeping Captain Fuzzy Pants out of trouble, and (B) the white crinkled plastic tubing IKEA sells for tidying up cords and cables is an amazing shield against “nasty, big, pointy teeth”.

Thank you so much. I got a sit n chew basket/bed and willow stick bundle this week. She also has a hard log kind of thing filled with seeds etc, grass bundles, various other chew toys hard and soft. She has every big toy in the binky bunny store except the mini maze; we have the ton o fun bun run, cottontail cottage and maze haven, we have a pink&purple velour cool cat tunnel for inside playtime. She has a cat door on the rear wall of her indoor run that connects to a temp. controlled 60sf aviary on our deck with 8ft high vertical ramps and perches or platforms, it’s covered in steel mesh with poly carbonate panels that slide in and out of place in warm or cold weather with two more tunnels, log tunnels or wood houses on each platform and my attempt at a homemade cottontail cottage which isn’t bad, just doesn’t look good in our house This aviary is thanks to our neighbor who is newly retired and wants to stay busy instead of watch tv. So I said, let him have at it! And my animals are my only children. They’ll never go to college, get married, get some girl pregnant, wreck my car or have grandchildren.

I think her favorite toy is a blue velour blanket that I cover the laminate floor with for her. She gets underneath and roots around for hours. When she gets to the edge, she turns around to keep going.

Ophelia likes to dig at my rugs, chew my leather sectional and crawl under the sofa in attempt to get to cords and a wood table. I had a black version of the IKEA white plastic tubing. They chewed through the tubing, then chewed the cords, AH! Black metal dog fencing has saved me from more headaches. She has plenty of opportunity to exercise and things to chew. My fingers ate crossed that my furniture doesn’t have to suffer much more, and that she will want to spend more time sitting on my lap while I read and drink coffee in the morning.

Since I have dogs, a cat, birds, fish, and bunnies, I have much logistics – in the field of separation and aminal proofing. he back half of the house is for the bunnies, the bird room, and the cat. The bunny/bird room has a sheet of linoleum over the carpet (I’ll do all wood floors at some point), and sheets over the limoleum so I can shake them out and wash them. The floor perimiter is framed with 2×4 studs so the bunnies can’t dig up the limoleum/carpet. Only 1 of the 4 bunnies leaves the bunny room. Avalon and Morgana are too destructive to be let out. Their half of the bedroom is 12ftx6ft and they have a 2ftx4ft second level in their condo. They consume cardboard boxes, chew sheets and towels, shred telephone directories, and chew on maple branches and lava rocks. They have a sand box to dig in, 2 plastic tunnels, a cardboard hidey box, a wicker tunnel, and a plastic planter to throw around. They dug up the carpet in a corner of the room before I put down the linoleum and 2×4’s. They shred fleece bedding, dog beds, cat scratch mats, grass mats, etc etc etc. Guin doesn’t want to use the bunny door, and I’m not going to hold the screen door open for her royal highness – since it is also a bird room. Lancelot uses the bunny flap that I put in the screen door. So he plays in the hallway and back 2 rooms. I took NIC cube panels and made a frame to keep him form getting under my bed – because he thumps under there. That also keeps the majority of the power cables safe. I keep the bedroom closet closed cause there are more cables in there, and the one cable that is not under the bed and not in the closet – has a plastic cable protector on it. Lancelot has never really touched cables. Guin would chomp them in half. She chomped through a tekephone cable at a hotel, and recently chomped an unplugged cable in two. That’s all the bunny proofing I do for Lancelot. If I don’t swap out his toys, he might find a spot on the carpet and pluck the fibers out. So I just give him new cardboard boxes in different spots every few weeks, and rearrange anything on the floor in the two back bedrooms – so he has a “new” jungle gym. He likes to weave inbetween the laundry baskets, shoe rack, curtains, anything that acts as an obstacle course for him. I use an extra tall baby gate at the entrance to the hallway to keep the cat/bunnies separate from the dogs.

What do you put in your dig box? Sand, potting soil, paper tubes? Ty

A bag of play sand from Walmart. I use an extra-large enclosed cat litterbox and remove the entrance flap.
