My bunny, Luna, seems to have an ear infection, NOT ear mites. Will any kind of animal ear drops work? Or do they specifically need to be for rabbits??

Yes and no. You need to figure out what’s causing the infection – bacteria or yeast? Your vet can do a swab to see what it is. Once you know, the vet can either prescribe an antibiotic or antifungal. If the vet decides to go the ear drop route (instead of oral), you need to make sure they don’t contain a steroid. Many ear drops that are formulated for dogs, for example, contain a steroid. You will also want the vet to confirm that your bunny’s ear drum hasn’t ruptured. If you use ear drops and the ear drum is ruptured, you risk ototoxicity.

Ditto. If it’s an infection, you need a specific antibiotic prescribed by a vet. Ear infections that are left untreated can migrate to the middle or inner ear and cause serious problems like head tilt.
