I have had my two baby Netherland Dwarf bunnies since September (they are now 6 months old and adorable). Over Christmas and New Year, I put them into bunny boarding as I was away for a two week period.

Since they’ve been back at home, they seem to be annoyed with me and are definitely not as affectionate as they were. They are also needing to be re-house trained (only minimal though, and I think  that has largely been resolved). They run away, don’t let me pet them, and generally just avoid my company

Initially I thought it was because they’d forgotten who I am, but as they know and remember my house and where to play etc, I now wonder if it’s because they are angry that I abandoned them and so I need to make it up to them. Thoughts? If they are annoyed with me, what on earth can I do to make them love me again? I am planning on spending the whole weekend home with them so they can run around freely as much as they want (and hopefully forgive me).

        Thanks in advance

Awwww, I don’t think they are annoyed with you. Maybe being away in boarding for 2 weeks with minimal human contact has something to do with it? I’m sure being back home with you now they will get back to the flow of things. You can give them treats, hehe, I’m sure they will LOVE that! I would just give them time and rebuild that bond. Also, could it be the age too? I hear younger bunnies often times could be more affectionate and once they become adults they may become less affectionate and more independent. But of course every bunny’s personality will differ no matter what stage of life they enter.
