So I am finally getting around to getting my bunnies a bigger cage. Right now the cage that came with them is 30Lx18wx18h so anything is better than that. I want to get a dog crate because it will fit it my room. Anyone have any brands they recommend? something bunnies won’t chew through? I would hate to spent 100 plus on a cage for them to destroy it. Also is 42Lx30Wx36h too small? They are both barely 5lbs. Thanks in advance!

I got a crate for mine and ended up regretting the waste of money. If you do end up going that route, I highly suggest you look for one that has a door on the side as well as the end, because you will need it.

Overall, I strongly suggest opting for an exercise pen made for dogs for them. They are cheaper in price, and more flexible in how you can utilize them, you can shape them however you need, and use all 8 panels or not.

An x-pen would give your bunnies more room, but some people do use dog crates. The crate would have the advantage of keeping your bunnies totally secure, with no way to get out (unless there was a faulty latch). Since the crates have bottoms and tops, the rabbits can’t jump out or manage to lift up the x-pen sides enough to get out. That’s rare, but it has happened. The crates are more expensive than x-pens.

I just checked Drs. Foster and Smith, which is where I buy most of my hay and pellets. They have two 2 door crates and one 3 door crate that are a few inches longer than the one you mentioned. They are 48″ long for the largest models. You would definitely want one with more than 1 door. They are a few inches shorter, but the extra length is what gives the bunnies more room. They all 3 got good reviews. The 3 door crate is on sale, 25% off.

Thanks for the replies. It’s only temporary and it’s bigger than the prison they are in now. I did end up getting one with two doors. Hopefully i can get them the three story condo built!
