I’m curious… Do rabbits… sigh…?? Kind of how humans and other animals such as dogs do.  Breath in and exhale out a little heavier than normal.  The thing is it looks like a sigh to me because she doesn’t make any noises when she exhales.  It’s just like a deeper exhale.  Her lungs were clear at the vets.  The vet never gave me an answer when I explained it to her.  She just said, “hmmm.”  I figured it was better to ask on the forum here because it seems to me some members know more than vets do!  Or is this a bunny version of a cough rather than a sigh?  Do rabbits cough? I’d assume they do, what does it sound/look like?  Would it sounds like a cough? Or would it be silent and look like a sigh?

I’m sorry but I cant say I heard Redford ever sigh or cough. The closest to that is when he gets in some mess or a spiderweb and sneezes. But thats a sound you can hardly mistake for anything else.
Sometimes when he gets really interested in something I can hear him sniff loudly but thats it.
However that’s only one bun case. Sorry I cant help more.

My older rabbits both sigh when I catch them to do nail trims. They did it when they were young too. It’s funny, just like a person, this resigned little sigh like “OK, she got me”.

Thank you Niamian and Dee for your replies. She doesn’t sigh as much now a days lol but she still does it once in a blue. (and Dee yes, she does it exactly how a person would do it lol) SHe used to do it quite frequently so I wasn’t sure if it was a cough or a sigh or what! Thank you.

My little girl sighs. Mostly if I scoop her up, but I have seen her do it, just laying there relaxing also.

Thanks Bunluv! I’m 99 percent sure it as just her sighing. I couldn’t find much on the net about it. Good to know. Thanks y’all!
