When I got my bunnies I did all the research I could and i am pretty confident in my knowledge of rabbits. Lately I have been hearing a lot about how bad corn husks are for the buns? I have never read anything about that, so I was hoping someone could extend my knowledge of it. I love my bunnies and I definitely don’t want something to happen to them from my lack of knowledge over the subject.

I wouldn’t give them to my buns. They are extremely tough and stringy, which makes me think it would be similar to a bunny eating carpet or a cotton towel.

Dana Krempels, a vet who’s a big bunny health expert affiliated with The House Rabbit Society says this about corns husks:

“I would not give them corn husks for two reasons. First, they are very stringy, and hard to chew. Since I know of bunnies who have gotten the strings of celery caught on their teeth and caused serious problems, I would think the same thing might happen with corn husks. Second, corn husks, unless they’re from organically grown corn, are loaded with pesticides. I just wouldn’t feed them to my bunnies when there are so many other good things to feed them.

You can give celery but you have to cut them into little pieces.
