        Hello everyone!
Im concerned about my rabbit Snoopy.
Hes six and a half years with me and loves me very much purring all the time.
Today i noticed something strange, as i petted him he started moving his mouth then turn to the other side and when i look i see a huge mushy poo which i believe came out his mouth. He ate it and went back to his cuddle form and resumed resting. I know that rabbits eat their poo but what concerns me is that its propably came out of his mouth and its huge. His diet is mostly fresh dry food which contains derivatives of vegetable origin, cereals, vegetables, minerals and seeds, a lot of alfalfa hay and fresh water every day. i tried a different bag of dry food about a month ago since the previous one had more fat and less protein and fiber. Could it be the new bag affected him somehow? Or is it some virus? Im really stumped and thinking of taking him to the vet. Other then that he eats drinks and poops normally (at least in the last 24 hours since this happened a few min ago).

It sounds very odd. Rabbits can’t vomit. Could he have kept un uneaten cecal (the poo they’re supposed to eat) in his mouth, then spat it out?

It doesn’t ring any bells with me. You can see sticky poop after a change of diet or a bout of stress, but as you’re saying, it should come out of the other end. How is his general appearance? Is he responsive, relaxed, will he take a treat?

Im not sure if he kept it in his mouth, I thought it was more of a hamster thing so thats an option.
His general appearence seems normal very active from night to early morning, i saw him eating a few min ago, in the day he rests on my bed as usual sometimes goes to tear some paper or take a walk in the house.

It sounds odd, but it probably isn’t anything to worry about. You said you were petting him. Are you sure he didn’t suddenly feel the urge to pass the cecal and then tried to reach around, but couldn’t get to it because he didn’t want to reposition himself from being petted? The cecal might have fallen out onto the floor because he was trying to reach around to the side instead of forward/down. I guess if it had been in his mouth, I would have thought he would have been chewing on it, even if you were petting him.

Also wanted to ask, are the pellets you’re feeding now the ones that contain the seeds? If so, I would suggest switching to a plain pellet. Seeds really aren’t good for bunnies. They are very fattening and can contribute to excess cecal production.

They are normal pellets the seeds come seperately, as for the approach for the cecal sounds logical. As i said before he turned his back to me and when i moved the cecal was already there, I did not actually seen it coming out.
I guess it was very good timing and confusing for me since i saw him suddenly move his lips (bruxing maybe), following a turn and a cecal under his mouth which was a bit farther from it should have been (he propably pushed it or something). Hes fine now by the way he ate twice already and had a drink. I guess he pulled a magic trick on me. Thank you all for helping. If theres anything else youre suspicious of let me know.
