So as you know Olly is a boy, he is 3 years old now and neutered, this morning he was making little nests with some fur and hay, is he just having fun? Does he think he’s a girl bunny about to have babies? Can male bunnies have phantom pregnancies like girls? I’ll keep an eye on him, but if he should happen to have babies I’ll be famous

I wouldn’t call it a false pregnancy. There have been a few cases of neutered males feeling the need to make a little “nest”. Not sure what makes them want to do that. It obviously wouldn’t be hormone-related.

So I will not be famous with the Virgin Olly? Well I cleaned him out this afternoon and gave him fresh blankets because we are both allergic to sawdust and he made nests with the blankets, maybe he is just making a little bed, then another for when he watches TV with me, I always put hay in his cage and let him move it to where he wants, I always do that with animals.

My bun Yohio (neutered male about 3 years) makes nests, but not with fur, just blankies that he pull into his cardboard houses and then lies in. He can really work hard at building a nest, once he managed to grab hold of a bedspread that’s like 3 yards long and pulled all of it into one of his boxes.
So unfortunately Olly probably won’t make you the famous for being the owner of a male virgin bunny mother
