My rabbit, poos and pees, A LOT and his bedding in his cage is usually soiled within 2 – 3 days! His poos are huge, but he urinates so much, maybe it’s because he has a large water bottle in his cage? Are there any suggestions bedding advice wise? Is it a bad thing he is doing it so often?

Do you have bedding throughout your rabbit’s cage? It’s recommended that you only have bedding/litter in the litter box, not in the entire cage,  then the dirty and wet areas of the litter box can be cleaned out every day or every other day as needed. Rabbits do poop a lot since they are grazing animals and eat throughout the day. A lot of poop is good and huge poop usually indicates a lot of hay intake, which is also very good. Excessive urination could be a cause for concern but it’s very likely that your rabbit is just urinating normally and it of course will build up in 2 or 3 days.

Does he urinate in one spot in his cage? You could try putting a litter box there as Tobyluv had mentioned. I’m in the process of litter training my 9 week old. She’s doing great with it so far. I only use bedding in her litter box. I tried giving her a little fleece blanket and hay mats but I think it confused her and she would have oopsies on them so I stopped putting anything else in the rest of her area. I use Aspen supreme pellets with Carefresh in her litter box and it does great at absorbing but then again she is a small bunny for now so less urine? I also usually change her box every morning but scoop out the heavily soiled areas before bed. There’s zero odor and she doesn’t like her litter box too dirty. I noticed she will have accidents outside her box if her box isn’t cleaned 2x a day. Good luck!

Thank you all! And yes I have bedding throughout his enclosure, would it be better if it was only in 1 spot so he recognized that’s where he is suppose to go?

Well if you would rather he not soil his whole enclosure, yes, I think it’s best to get a litter box and bedding in the box alone. Is he a digger? My bunny is a digger.. she tries to dig her way to China every day lol. I have a scatterless litter box in her corner and she urinates there and does most of her poops there too. There will be a coupe poops here and there but it’s super easy to clean up because there’s no bedding anywhere else. She’s also just started litter training about a week and a half ago. There’s a whole section on this lovely site about litter box training. Check it out
