Anyone else have a Houdini bun? My little guy LIVES to get out. (As I was typing this I had to get up to secure yet another breach.)

Oh, Mr. Olaf. I built him an NIC condo that is about 3×4 ft. with two levels. Every time I let him out in the evening I attach an x-pen so has plenty of space. I rotate toys, play with him for treat training, and try to keep things interesting.

Alas, it is never enough. The more I expand his universe (making the pen bigger every week or so) the more he obsesses over trying to climb or dig his way out. Any crevice covered? He wants under. Any item blocked? He wants to climb on it. All of the actual toys and activities I give him go relatively unused (even cardboard boxes and tunnels, as I thought he wanted some hideaway time). I know rabbits are curious creatures, but at one point he even tried pushing my bedroom door open. HE KNOWS THERE IS MORE WORLD TO BE HAD.

Anyways, he has made it his life’s work to find all of the exits, intentional or the ones he creates. Halp!

Lol…rookie was like that when I first got him. I was going to keep him in a fairly large part of the condo but everytime I stepped in and out of his space he made note of my exits and was soon to follow.
So I gave up and now the bottom level of my condo is all bunny proofed and he is free to roam. It took him time to even accept that the condo walls don’t move….

Thank you for understanding! Rookie sounds like quite the character. I have a feeling we’ll have the same outcome. The more I try to “fix” things to keep him in a certain area the more determined he is to find a way in, over, or around said obstacle. It is probably better for his safety (and my sanity) to just set up the living room as Olaf-land. :]

Yeah rookie was quick to claim his ground. And even now after living in his space I change stuff around as much as I can for him and yet he still finds things to climb on or behind or whatever that I never thought of.
