Fever from stress normal? Also question about taking rectal temp

1)can you accidentally hurt a bunnies rectum if you take their rectal temp incorrectly? I ask because I accidentally hurt my bunny when I was taking her rectal temp and she cried. I feel terrible. I didn’t mean to hurt her. How would I know if I ruptured her rectum or injured it? :'(

2) is it normal for a bun to have a temp of 103.7 if they are stressed?

You can’t know if you hurt her rectum unless there is blood. You’d need a vet to check that. Try to limit the temperature-taking to once or maximum twice a day, preferably 12 hs between, same times every day (body temp varies quite a lot over 24 hours, so you should take it around the same time approx.) You can keep written notes so you know exactly how her temp fluctuates.

Do you know what temp she has when she’s healthy? What’s normal for one bun may be higher or lower than what’s normal in another bun, i e there is an individual component to body temp. It’s the same with people.

From what I find, stress can cause a bun to have temp of up to 104. A temp of 105 means sth is wrong. A temp of 106 is an emergency.

Does she seem feverish? How is her eating and pooping? Does she move about or does she sit hunched up? All those things are important too for determining whether your bun is sick or not.

I think her temp had gone up so high because I stressed her out so much from when I tried to take.her temp
