I have a 4-year-old doe I rescued as a baby, so we’ve been together quite awhile now. In the past week, she’s started making a quiet squeaking noise I’ve never heard her make before. She’s normally pretty quiet, although she used to grunt and growl when running around with her brother (who died last year) and she growls sometimes when I clean her cage to let me know I’m encroaching on her territory.

She’s otherwise acting normal. She exercises and does binkies, she’s eating and pooping just fine, and she’s her usual social self. The squeaking sometimes happens when she’s just sitting there, possibly napping, but she also sometimes does it when cleaning herself.

Is this something I should be concerned about, or is she just exhibiting some new (yet normal) behavior?

The sounds bunnies make almost all have to be interpreted in context. (Exceptions are the agonizing screams they can let out from mortal fear and the choppy, loud teeth-grinding that means pain).

Some buns are more vocal than others. My bunny Bam sometimes make a little twittering noise when he eats something very yummy. At first I wasn’t sure if it was a good or a bad sound, but since the context was nice, I decided it was good.
