So a few days ago I noticed quite a big bump on my 11 yr old (very old but in good shape!) Dutch short hair rabbits side, near his back leg a bit, that’s about the size a marble, very hard to touch, obviously I didn’t wanna squeeze or poke at it, so I didn’t get an idea of its give. so I told my mom and she set up an appointment which is three days away! I wanted to get a better look at it, so I brought him under some light and very gently spread his fur, and I saw that it’s on the surface of the skin, not under. I’m very scared. it’s pink, not red, does not hurt or bother him at all, and has a bit of dried blood around the top. it isn’t leaking puss or anything, and has a bit a fur still growing out of it. im very worried! there isn’t anything else odd to note. please help! I know I have the appointment in a few days but I would like to know!

How much outdoor access does your bunny have? I’d try to bump up that appointment. Is there anyway you could post a close-up photo? Especially of the blood spot on the lump? Sounds like a warble. I’ve seen a number of them. Pulled a warble out myself. I don’t mean to scare you, but warbles scare me. The blood on the top of the lump (if it is a warble), is from the breathing hole that the warble creates. I really really hope it is not that. I don’t want to alarm anyone unnecessarily. (Indoor bunny’s can get warbles too – but it’s somewhat rare). The closer they are to the surface of the skin, the less damage they cause.
Ont he other hand – it could also just be a fatty cyst. Not sure why there would be a blood spot on a cyst though. Please post a pic.

I would also use a warm wet cotton ball to remove the dried blood, so I can see if there is a (breathing) hole on the lump.
