My rabbit Stella has LOUD gurgling noises coming from her. She seems absolutely normal, but when I take her out to run around, her gurgling noises can be heard from across the room. I’ve looked it up, but many sites say say that they probably aren’t eating, and they’re laying on their tummies, either scrunched up, or doesn’t want to be pet. Stella is the complete opposite. She runs around like there’s no tomorrow, she’s eating (although recently she hasn’t been eating her pellets), and seems perfectly healthy. Loud gurgling noises, though. It sounds like a human’s gurgling stomach, but like 4x louder. I haven’t giving her anything out of the ordinary, but I haven’t been giving Stella her usual lettuce because I haven’t gotten around to getting any since we just ran out. Please help!

Odd for it to be so loud! You are correct, gas is usually quite painful and they lay around and don’t want to move. Why did she stop eating pellets?

You can try giving her some baby gas drops (simethicone) and see if that helps. It breaks big gas bubbles up into smaller ones that are easier to pass. It’s a bunny safe med that Medirabbit recommends for gaas in bunnies, it’s widely used by bunny-owners but there is little actual scientific evidence of it’s effectiveness.

Is she still eating hay? Does her poop look good? That she’s running around is great, there’s nothing better for getting the intestines to move so gas can be passed.

One of my buns had a loud gurgling tummy once, but he was certainly not running around, he displayed all the symptoms of gas-pain. (He got well after a night of simethicone and CC and very very gentle tummy rubs).

Stella stopped eating her pellets because I was introducing her to Timothy from alfalfa. Slowly she stopped eating the alfalfa pellets, which I thought was great, but now she barely even eats the Timothy pellets. She only eats the pellets when she has to. Like, before, I would give her pellets right before bed, and usually she would gobble them all up in a matter of 30 minutes. Now, when I come home from school, her pellet bowl is still hall full. By the time night comes (when I’m supposed to give her pellets), she’s eating her pellets from the night before.

Stella is still eating hay fine, and her poops look perfectly normal. I have tried to do some tummy massages, and Stella (funny part), just plopped down on my bed while I was massaging her tummy. It almost seemed liked she enjoyed the massages and was now relaxing. Do I just ned to massage her? Also, how much do baby has drops cost?

Also, it is really only super loud when she is running around. Like, if she’s sitting in her cage, it kinda sounds a little bit louder than a human gurgling noises.

I don’t know what baby gas drops cost where you live, here a bottle would cost around 5 dollars. It’s a rather big bottle though, but it’s good to keep in your bunny 1rst aid-kit. I personally would never dare be without it =)

As long as she’s eating and drinking and pooping, and running around, it’s not an emergency. What brand and make of pellets do you feed her? There are differences in quality.
