        Hello All!

So my college is a 7 hour drive away from home. I am heading home for the holidays and I would never dream of flying with Ru, so we have a daunting car ride in front of us. Right know I have a hard walled carrier for him, about two and a half times his size. My plan stuff it with hay, attach his water bottle to the side, and periodically feed him pellets/treats to keep him calm.

BUT since I’ve never travelled further then the vets office with a rabbit, I’m looking for any further advice you all might have from experience. I am not personally driving, and my ride really wants to make this in as little time as possible, so we wont be stopping too often, and we will have to do the whole 7 hours in one day.

        Thanks for any advice!

I’m not sure if this helps, but my bun travels in the dog cage for my return trips home 5hrs. With munchies and a drink and litter box and she tends to chill out laying down all the way. She can move and poop and stretch.
I understand that in the unlikely event of a crash this would not protect her as much as a smaller snugger cat carrier, but i’ve weighed up the options versus having a stressed bunny in a confined space for 5 hours.
I do have a cat transport carrier aswell which I use to go to the vets but not for long distances. She’s a big rabbit and takes up the whole carrier (like a cat would)

Two and a half times his size sounds good. Pretty much the same ratio of a human and a car !! LOL
I would imagine the biggest risk is him overheating in the car or getting a constant blast from the airvents… so just watch out for those…

          Happy travels !
