I found a rabbit savy vet who does all the spays and neuters for our rabbit rescue place in our area and i found out she was the same vet who took care of my three dogs growing up. Im just scared. Im bringing her in at 7am and shes going to be so confused on whats going on and I just want her to be safe. I heard rabbits die alot from spays. I dont want anything to happen to my little girl I love her so much but the dominance has to stop and the biting has to stop and the peeing and pooping everywhere has to stop. I want her to be 100% litter trained. Shes getting there but not when shes running around.

Also how do I keep her from going under the Xmas Tree? she wants to go under there and bite the cords but its in the corner and I just cannot let her not run around.

Also for how long should she not run around after the spay and what should I expect?

also can a mod please delete the same topic i posted in diet and care.  I didnt mean too there.

Lux will be just fine, I’m sure of it. Bunnies shouldn’t die from a spay surgery, unless there is something medically wrong with them that no one knew about. A rabbit savvy vet should tell you that the vast majority of their patients have made it (they all lose one or two, it happens). So try not to worry too much. If this vet is very experienced, then Lux’s chances are very good. Once she’s home, you’re going to want to let her rest for a day or two and try to avoid strenuous activity for the first week.

Here’s what NewBunnyOwner123 wrote in your other thread:

Good luck! Spays are very common procedure and sounds like you found a good, reliable vet to do them so I wouldn’t worry too much. It’s easy to worry though because… surgery! ,y girl, Sophie is going to get spayed tomorrow as well! I’m nervous but excited to get this out of the way. It’s a great preventative care to avoid cancer. The hormonal issues are certainly an added bonus though. When I got my previous rabbit, sally, spayed I kept her caged for 3 days and then day 4-7 she was allowed in my hallway to stretch her legs but didn’t offer anything that she could jump up on. She was herself by day 3. Like very cooped up and begging to get out! I don’t have advice for the tree. I put mine up off the ground to keep the rabbits and an infant away from it

            And BunLuv:

I have two just out of spay Friday and still on daily metacam.

One is very docile and the other not so much, though they are basically on ” bed rest ” the brown one can’t contain itself sometimes. Short of sitting on it I fail to see how to stop it from moving around the x pen. It only has one or two energetic episodes throughout the day and it seems fine.

I have about a 5-7 inch 2nd level on Luxs cage that she loves to sit on and hide under. Is it ok to continue ur leaving that in the cage so she knows it’s home?

I don’t really see a problem with that height level. She probably won’t move around much the 1st day.

One thing I noticed with girls post-spay is they’re more likely to drink if you put their water right next to them.

If you’re dropping her in that early, make sure she has her hay and maybe a scattering of pellets in it. It’s important she eat right up until op time. Make sure staff know to put it in with her.

So the spay was a success!!!! Lux is eating veggies a lot and drinking some water but we have to bring the water and food to her. She hasn’t really moved a lot except her head since she got spayed and came home about 8 hours ago. When should she see poops coming and walking around her cage? Gave her her first pain meds as instructed and she loved it!!!!

That’s so great! Good, strong girl Lux!
The first day or so she won’t be moving around much, perhaps not at all. You should see some poop pretty soon, but not a lot of them since she isn’t moving about. Any poop is good, even if it’s just a couple of them.

                    Swift recovery-vibes ((((((((Lux))))))))

Glad she made out well. It’s pretty major surgery so she will be sore and sleepy, especially the first couple of days. It’s great that she’s already eating.

She’s perfectly fine now after 4 days!!! So I’ve noticed some improvement already! She’s using her litter box more and she isn’t honking nearly as much when we put our hands in the cage. So the spay has worked so far . She still pees in her water bottle which is a bad bunny
