Hey all. I was on the forum about 2 years ago as a new bunny mummy. Now 2 years later mango is a happy cuddly 2 year old big boy bun.(and I’m nearing 30 and still need to learn). However today I was given a baby 6-8 weeks old (they can’t be sure he was rehomed) .
Of course I need advice about my new fruit (litchi). I’d love to keep him but mango is unaltered. That will be taken care and next Friday. And litchi will be done in 5-7 weeks. (So beginning to middle Jan)
What to do in the time? Mango is free range and leaves no corner unturned… so only neutral ground is the tub. even if bonded there, will they cope in his territory? Can I bond them 2 weeks after mango is neutered and just neuter litchi when vet gives the OK? Or am I going to have to wait until after litchi is altered? and if so is it still OK if litchi is around while they wait? He is is an elevated cage close enough to smell but far enough to be out of reach…

I’ve read many articles and forums but I don’t have answers for these questions.

You will need to wait until after litchi has been neutered, plus give him a few weeks after that for all of his hormones to be flushed out, before you attempt any bonding. If litchi’s cage is inaccessible to Mango, then it should be okay for him to stay in your house. You don’t want any fighting to go on through the bars of the cage. If Mango seems upset by the new bunny and tries to repeatedly jump at the cage, you may need to place an x-pen around the cage to keep the new bunny from being frightened or intimidated.
