Hi! My rabbits pee is usually light yellow to a dark yellow. This is my first time seeing it brown. When I cleaned it up, it looked brown on the towels. Is this normal? Does this look like sludge to you? My rabbit has only been eating timothy hay and orchard grass the last couple of days (vet recommendation) for this week. Could his diet make his pee vary in color? He’s been drinking and eating fine.

here is a picture (you might have to copy and paste into a separate tab):

I can’t see your ic on my phone, but bunny pee can vary a lot in color, from very light yellow to dRk red. That’s normal and due to pigments in the food the bun gets. They may also produce a red pigment spontaneously.
Sludge looks like fine wet concrete. It shouldn’t be confused with the chalky white calcium that’s often seen, that’s normal, bunnies expel excess calcium via the urine as opposed to most other mammals.
I will look at your pic tomorrow when I get to a PC. Meanwhile I hope you get answers from other members.

            Yes, it’s normal.

Unless there are other symptoms, there is no reason to worry.

Yes, that is perfectly normal to have a variation in color. Why is he on a hay only diet? (It may be on another post and I just haven’t gotten that far yet…)

It looks normal to me too. It’s absolutely not bladder sludge.

Here are a few pictures of normal rabit pee that a person might think isn’t normal (but it is) and one picture of bladder sludge, which is not normal: http://www.medirabbit.com/EN/Uro_gen_diseases/generalities/Sludge.htm
