My bunny, Panda, is a lionhead lop and is crazy furry. I brush her often but I can’t brush at her backside where mats are forming. She’s getting some behind her ears too. Anything I can do to get these mats out of her fur and prevent her from getting mats in the first place? She’s not very well socialized, so it’s hard to just pick her up and have a good look. Any thoughts?

(as you can see, shes like a little cloud with how poofy she is)

What a cutie! I have a male lionhead who gets brushed daily, but HATES if I try to groom his backside. (Don’t touch the butt!!!) I do the best I can, but when his fur gets too long, I have to take him to be groomed. My problem right now is that my groomer moved to Germany , so I’m searching for another. They’re tough to find. Maybe contact your local shelters that care for rabbits and see if they could recommend someone. Wish I had better advice for you.

I would just trim them off with a small pet clipper. I use a little pocket dog trimmer on Bindi’s mats. He doesn’t like it but it’s much quicker than combing out the mats and painless.
