        Hello,

I was wondering if you could please give me advice on what to do about these digestive tablets that was given to me along with my new baby Holland Lop.  He is roughly 7 weeks old and will not be coming home until he is 8 weeks old.  I did massive research on diet and I am sticking to what he is currently being fed so that he will be healthy and not have any digestive issues.  He is currently on Oxbow pellets for young rabbits, unlimited timothy hay, and alfalfa hay.  I have read all the do’s and don’ts that I can find… Every bit of information I could find all told me NOT to feed baby rabbits what adults would eat due to their baby digestive tracts.  I was given Oxbow digestive tablets along with all the food I purchased.  I was told that I HAD to feed him half of these tablets but when I did research on the tablets I noticed people only gave their senior rabbits these tablets unless told by a vet otherwise.  The tablets themselves are timothy based but it has a lot of the ingredients such as flaxseed, chomomile, ginger root? I was thinking maybe I should just skip these since I cannot seem to find any information on them being safe for baby bunnies…? Does anyone know anything about these tablets?  Thank you so much for your time!

I just looked at the Oxbow site and under the Feeding tab regarding Natural Science Digestive Support, it says “Not intended for growing, pregnant, or lactating animals”. Since an 8 week old rabbit is certainly still growing, it should not have these supplements.

I don’t see any need for them anyway. A young, healthy bunny shouldn’t need a digestive supplement. And if the instructions say they aren’t intended for young bunnies, then I would definitely not give them unless there was a real reason directed by a vet.
