I have a female bunny she is about four and a half years old. Back in April she had GI stasis,so now I’m overly worried about her. She has hay available at all times and gets a mix of veggies for dinner. She usually eats it right away. Yesterday she was acting fine eating normal and acting normal. I went out for a bit and a few hours later came home and I always let her put right away and she follows me around or looks for some trouble to get into. But last night she wouldn’t come out of her house and I K Ew that was weird right away. So I tried to give her a treat and she didn’t want it. Which never happens. So then I tried all her favorites banana, treats, carrots and she didn’t want any. She stayed hidden all night and didn’t eat anything which is very unlike her. She is usually out by me wanting to get pet or begging for a treat or something. She also just sat in the same few spots all night, she did jeep stretching kinda weird or laying down and getting right back up which I read could be gas.

I still had some critical care mix from the vet from the gi issues back in April so I made her eat some of that so she at least had something in her belly until I could get her to the vet today. I left her veggies out for her hoping she’d eat them overnight (I know that can be bad but I wanted them there for her incase she felt better). I went to bed around 1 and set an alarm to check on her at 3,she had eaten a lot of her veggies. She gets probably 2 to 3 cups of veggies so it’s quite a bit of food, but she at around 2/3 of it. Then when I got up at 5 she had ate the rest and was zipping around begging for treats and getting into trouble like she normally does.

She hasn’t drank much water since last night around 7pm but she is still peeing normally. And I changed her box last night so I could monitor her droppings and she’s only pooped like 5 turds since then until now, maybe because she just ate a little bit ago she hasn’t pooped yet (idk). Like I said everything was normal up until 7pm last night her poops were normal, behavior and appetite were all normal. And now she seems to be fine. Should I still try to take her to the vet today? I hate to spend the $ and add stress to the situation for her if it’s not necessary. Last time she had gi staisus she wasn’t eating much and her poop was really small and hard. I just don’t want things to go back to her not eating again tonight after the vet is closed. Do you think she just had gas or an upset tummy maybe? I hate to take her in when she’s back to normal. Is gi staisus something that couldn’t make her bad then better for awhile then back to bad again? It didn’t seem that way last time but Idk, any thoughts would be appreciated greatly. I love my bunny and want her to be ok .

Do you know what caused the last episode of stasis? If it was teeth, you might be dealing with that again. It could also have been shedding, which yours might be doing at the moment too.
Since she’s seemed to have turned around I think it’s safe to keep an eye and get her in if it happens again-maybe trying keeping a journal so you could see if you can figure out if there is a cause.
