I adopted a cute mini rex rabbit in May at 2 months old. Hes an adorable grey little guy and so sweet! When he was 4 months I got him Neutered so he is fixed. Often when he is sitting by me he will push on the ground with his front paws really hard then push himself with his back legs shoving the ground with his fronts. Its really odd! I thought it might have been his way of saying his nails were too long and clipped them but to no avail! The second question is that he uses his litterbox well but seems to have semi wet paws and sits in his poop. I replace the hay but still it’s gross to me. Is there any suggestions for the litterbox to stop this? Thanks! –Rasmussenga

I don’t know why he does that with his paws, it’s not something I have noticed that my buns do.
The semi-wet feet could be due to the litter you’re using, or if you’re not using enough of it. I use hardwood stove pellets in my buns’ litterboxes. They are very quick to absorb and they are nicely priced. Other alternatives are paper pellets like Yesterday’s News or even torn up old newspaper, and there’s Carefresh. You can put hay on top in case he likes to nibble when he goes to the bathroom, but hay only is not enough as litter since it doesn’t absorb very well. Plus you waste lots of hay.
