So I went to go pet Zee and I noticed that her face was moist.  I thought perhaps it was because she had been sitting under her water bottle and it dripped on her head.  About 10 minutes later I noticed that the skin around her eye was pink.  You can see this in the attached picture.  It doesn’t seem like her actual eye ball is scratched since she isn’t trying to close it, but my baby looks hurt and I need to fix it.  Do you think this warrants a trip to the vet or since there is no ugly discharge it might fix itself?  I also have some left over Meloxicam from her injured foot last month I can give her.  What do you guys think I should do?

If her face is moist, it could be that there was some discharge from the eye. If you are still seeing the pinkness or any irritation around her eye in the morning, a vet visit would be a good thing. If she has some kind of problem, it would be best to get it tended to right away. Unless she is really acting like she is in pain, you probably should hold off on giving her any medication.

            That must be frightening !

I would take mine to the vet a.s.a.p but I prefer to be on the safe side since I know virtually nothing about bunny illnesses and or common injuries.

You can try rinsing the eye with saline first, eye-wash for humans is fine. Take care not to touch the other eye with anything that has touched the weepy eye. If it persists, see a vet. It could be a tooth-issue or just an eye-infection that can be fixed with eye-drops. I would hold off on the meloxicam if she’s not showing signs of pain. Is she eating and drinking and pooping?

Luckily no, no discharge, its just wet, as if water got on her face.

I don’t have any saline at home.  I was thinking about checking it in the am and then seeing how it goes.  I’ve been petting her, but  not going anywhere near the infected eye.  I don’t want to spread anything if its spreadable.  Thank you for your help!
