We have this festival called Diwali (in case any of you might want to Google it) and its famous for people burning fire crackers. I want to make sure I do the most I can for Moshu. Last year she got really intimidated. However, she found her shelter below the bed. When the firecrackers stopped, she came out and had her food as usual. She didn’t show any signs of stress after that.

I am planning to bring in her cage inside (she’s an indoor bunny anyways, but we use the cage for her only at nights so that she doesnt hurt herself in the dark and hop all over our faces while we are asleep; the cage is pretty spacious and she is at ease when inside it).  So yes, I was planning to bring in the cage and cover three of its sides with a blanket, keep a few blankets inside it too and keep her in there till it gets silent. Is this a better thing to do or to just let her be and let her find a corner for herself where she feels safe.

What all else can I do to make it less stressful for her ?

I think your plan is good. Here are a few tips that the member Pinky posted in prep for Bonfire Night in the UK (Nov 5): https://binkybunny.com/FORUM/tabid/54/aft/143033/Default.aspx

It’s basically what you’re going to do, try and soundproof as best you can and give her extra blankies for snuggling in the cage. Maybe a super-nice treat would be good for her, so she keeps up the eating.

We only have fireworks here on New Year’s and my bunnies have never seemed to be very alarmed. Yohio hides under the bed. Bam doesn’t react. I sometimes think he’s deaf.

Does he respond to sounds otherwise ? Like when you clap your hands or call out his name ?

I will go ahead with my plan then, thank you

I wish I had stuff like Rescue Remedy available here.

Maybe Bam is just a sound sleeper. It always takes him a while to come out from wherever he’s sleeping, he has several preferred spots. It’s rather difficult to tell, deaf animals too will sense your presence by vibrations in the floor, your scent etc.

We don’t have Rescue Remedy here either. We have calming scents for dogs and cats, but not for bunnies.

The fireworks on diwali is unstoppable !! Its going to be here too. I think your plan sounds great. If she starts freaking out in her cage obviously let her free and let her find her corner. You could try and pet her to calm her down , or give her treats!
