Hello……so my 8 month old lion head bunny is a very active bunny, but the other day he was doing some jumping and jumped up on top of his cage. He seemed ok, but the next morning, he just was laying around. Towards the middle of the day I noticed he did not want to play, just hopped a little and then laid down. today after school I came home and he is still doing the same thing. I read some posts from here and so I offered him his favorite snack and he ate it. I was not sure if he is sick sick or if he has injured himself. I try to touch his back foot (he usually lets me) but he hopped away! Should I give him another day to see how he is or should I just bring him to his Dr.?

Help Please I love this little guy and I hate seeing him like this.

I would take him to the vet just to be safe. My bunny acted like this over the summer and died a week later.

If he’s not acting normal I’d consider bringing him into the vet just to be on the safe side. Bunnies are delicate so it’s important to notice and take action with the little stuff even if it doesn’t seem too big a deal. Good luck and I hope he feels better.

Ive experienced this with my bun. He just lays around for days yet still eats and seems alert. It’s always just ended up that he felt like being lazy for a while. I’ve had many sleepless nights over this very same issue. I think a vet visit is always a good idea if something seems off, but until then try to remain calm.

Any big change is grounds to go to the vet. Usually we are trying to determine if it’s an emergency or if they can wait a few hours or days to see a day time vet.

Are you able to actually check (press and hold) all over his body for pain? If you can, I would start there. See if there is a pain response, heat or swelling (compare one side to the other to check for swelling). If all seems OK and he’s eating and drinking, then you can wait and see how he is and see a vet in a few days.
If you find heat, swelling, a pain response (pulling away, biting etc) or cannot examine him then it’s best to get in sooner then later to a vet.

Sudden changes in behavior, combined with not eating normally, would warrant a vet visit IMO. I hope he’s okay! Let us know how things go at the vet.
