Walter, Chevy, and Olaf were taken from us through stress and the heat this summer. They are desperately missed but I have filled my heart with another little fluffball!

Are you serious? Really? That’s just awful! Those poor bunnies and you got another one?

Sorry, I really don’t know what to say…..

Sadly I am serious. They all went in a period of about 2 weeks. We had just moved from Nebraska to Idaho and they were stressed from the move. In Idaho in the summer its 90s during the day and down in the 50s at night and they weren’t used to that. It has been a few months and we have welcomed new little friends into our lives! I am just about to post picture of our current bunny friends!

Wow ! Was that the veterinarians diagnosis ? Stress from a move and climate change ?

That’s horrific, I’m so sorry for your loss.

Am I correct in assuming they were kept outside? I’m asking because I’m worried about your new bunnies. Rabbits can’t handle heat like this. Imagine sitting outside in 90 degrees, wearing a fur coat. It’s not something they can get used to, it’s simply way too hot. I’m not saying this to make you feel worse, but I’m worried that the same thing will eventually happen to your new rabbits if they are being kept in the same conditions.

I’m sorry you had to go through this.

BunLuv- We didn’t take them to a vet but since they all died within such a close period of time we are almost positive that is what happened. We have moved bunnies before and always try to keep them as stress free as possible. But as all of you bunny owners uprooting a bunny and putting them in a new environment is extremely stressful!
Hazel- Yes we keep them outside as we don’t own our house. In the winter they are in the garage out of the elements and in the summer they are outside in the shade with frozen water bottles. When it gets extremely hot we take them inside the house or garage during the hottest parts of the day. In Nebraska summertime highs are usually in the 90s too. The exception is that at night it doesn’t drop so drastically! It was sadly the stress combined with such drastic temperature changes that took them.
