So as some of you know i have been having some major aggression/territorial issues with one of my spayed females (Rolo) who is 1 year 3 months old. She is a Mini Lop so is pretty much full grown. As it stands, i can still pet her and pick her up at times, but if she is in certain parts of her cage she will charge and bite (she breaks the skin) my hand when i try to feed her. The same is if i tell her off for doing something naughty (like attacking Biscuit), she will turn and bite me if i don’t move fast enough.

Yes, she is spayed, but i am going to move her out of my room and set up a pen in the living room for her. Its too stressful for her at the moment i think as she is constantly trying to battle everyone. The problem is, how do i set the pen up? I don’t want to be bitten every time I try to give her her food and water, anything she can hide in/under will cause her to lunge at me if i get too close. Outside of the cage she is better, as long as i let her get her way, or she will charge at me again lol xD. Any ideas on the best kind of setup for the pen i will create so she cant lunge at me when im trying to give her food? there are times when i can pet her inside her cage but that’s usually if she is wanting to be let out.

I think you need to give her some ‘safe’ areas. Tunnels or hidey holes-and you do not reach near them, you don’t bother her or talk to her or put your hands in the cage when she is in those areas.

I’ve always respected the litter box in that way. So mine, knowing I’m coming with meds, dash to the litter box and we play the waiting game. I do not pick them up out of the box, and they feel confident about that.

So what I would say is set it up however you like, but you only exchange the food and water when she isn’t near it, and you give her areas of her home that if she is in there, you ignore her-you don’t talk, look or reach in -I bet she’ll realize this quickly (she sounds sensitive) and start feeling more confident very quickly.
