If you are here for pics there aren’t any yet. I’ll be posting some shortly when I can compose myself a bit better.
I had a bit of a setback at school so had to work extra hard to catch up so haven’t really had time to do anything but sit my behind in a lab when I have extra time. But I’m finally about to graduate. But I’m going to have to put vet school applications on hold for a bit unfortunately. But it is fine I will get there eventually. Cause ya know I’m getting younger everyday .
Anywoozle on to why we are all here updates updates updates.
My oldest female dog passed away sadly a yesterday at 12 years old. I’m still recovering from that. It was expected due to her age and the fact that she has had cancer and congestive heart failure for so long but no easier to swallow once it happened. It was a bit traumatic for me since my local e-vet was closed (?) and she passed at home and couldn’t possibly make the trip to the next closest vet. I had Gizmo from the time she was born when her mom came to me pregnant. Gizmo was oxygen deprived during birth which made her a bit quirky but the most unique dog I’ve ever had. She was very much a one person dog. She loved me and hid and barked at everyone else no matter how much training or socializing we tried. People loved her but she hated people. She loved to “talk” if you told her “I love you Mo” she would just talk away or when I would come home you could hear her “talking” through the door. Most people called her my pot bellied pig since she would snort, grunt and snuffle when I would pet her. She was my shadow and always glued to me. It is very hard to look down and not see my girl not laying next to me or demanding me to rub her belly. It has been very hard on her litter mate Haven as well. He has been looking for her constantly since they were completely inseparable. I miss my dog…
Woo okay on to happier things before I am not able to see to type…
Gypsy is still mischievous little bratty butt. Do you know what this rabbit did? Hmm do you? No? I’ll tell you!
I have my snake cages in my dining room. All of the cords have protectors on them and are up off of the floor. If you know anything about snakes you know they have quite a few things that need to be plugged in. I let Gypsy out to play and she loves the dining room because it is big and she can run as fast as she can in big circles in there. I hear her running around and hear her running through tunnels and such that I have in there for her to play in. Then it gets eerily quiet. I go to check on her and she is nowhere to be found. I look in all of the nooks and crannies but no Gypsy. I have the back area of the stand the snake cages are sitting on blocked off so I think no way she is back there and don’t even check because I mean it is solid. I go to look in other rooms of the house. I come back and she is cleaning off her face IN THE MIDDLE OF THE DINING ROOM. Now how did she get pass me and back into the dining room? I brush it off and go about my day.
Well it comes time for her to go up and Moonshine to come out. I put her up and grab Moonshine. He is out running around and I need to feed the snakes. I have their food thawing already and I notice my boa’s temps are off it is supposed to be 85F on his hot side but it is in the low 70’s. I’m like that’s odd. So I check to make sure his thermometer hasn’t moved. Then I notice his heat mat is cold. What?
I follow the cord to see if it had came unplugged… Oh it was unplugged alright. Gypsy had chewed a discreet hole in the side of the barrier and then chewed THROUGH the cord protectors (that’s protectors plural) on the wall and through the very expensive herpstat cord and then chewed through the heat mat cord as well! GYPSY!!!! Ugh! Good thing you didn’t get electrocuted and that I kind of like you rabbit! Now all of the new expensive *grumble* cords are behind a steel plate bolted to the wall.
Moonshine unfortunately doesn’t have any crazy antic stories. He is far too lazy for all that. His biggest adventure is trying to hump my cat on a daily basis. Too bad my vet wants to wait until he is 8 months old to neuter him. Moonshine has three goals in life. Eat as much stuff that he isn’t supposed to, hump the cat, and lick everyone around him. When he is out all foods are put up out of his reach. He will literally eat anything that resembles food. Cat food, dog food, fish food, it doesn’t matter. I even caught hime trying to eat a piece of fish a friend of mine had on a plate in the living room! He is attracted mostly to canned cat food which grosses me out. If my cat leaves any in his bowl he will run straight for it and my cat is fed on top of his cat tower. But moonshine is huge and of course gets up there with ease. So it is all put in cabinets when he is out running around. He has grown so much! He now has a pen attached to his cage since his cage is too small for him now.
I will update this thread with pictures soonish.
