So I just got my bunny today, but it seems scared of me. She wont let me come near her without running to hide. Any suggestions on how to get her to trust me? I know time is probably the best thing, but I want to make sure there is not anything else I should be doing

Unless it comes to a safety issue where bunny must be saved, no, it will take time for the bunny to feel settled. You could lay on the floor and read, or watch TV and most likely eventually said bunny will come to check you out. You also could offer a treat by hand or at this point lay it on the floor and let the bunny come and get it at his/her leisure.

Time and food. One of my bunnies still runs from me after 2 years. Another bunny lets me pet him briefly, after a year. And finally – my other 2 bunnies are super snuggly wuggly with me. Each bunny is different. Some might take a shorter time than others. Food food food. When you feed veggie salads to your bun, woudl be a great time to sit with her while she eats. Just sit and let her get use to you. Don’t try to pet her just yet. Feed her pellets in 2 sessions. Don’t free feed, coz then she can eat at her own schedule, instead of relying on her human for food. What worked wonders with my grumpy bunny Guin, was feeding her twice a day, and once I was sure she was eating enough veggies and hay – I limited her pellets to 1/4 cup twice a day. Her bunny belly told her that the human bringing food t a “starving” bunny – was her hero. Now she binkies at me when I come into the room 🙂

Our bunny is still really young so we are just introducing fresh greens. We don’t feed them in a big sitting. I just give her a few leaves everytime I go through the kitchen. So does my hubby and daughter.

Willow comes to her name now and is very social. some may not like it, but we find it cute-she is ALWAYS begging if we are in the kitchen now. If anyone opens the fridge she will stand up and beg, maybe tug at your pants. Our dog is confused by it, since I guess she hasn’t figured out that he is not able to get her leaves out of the fridge and she begs him too if he’s in there.

To begin with we did a lot of sitting on the floor and waited for her to get curious and then we handed out a leaf or two.

Patience, understanding and food bribes I think is your best bet when getting to know your bun.
