So I’m bonding my two girls finally (both spayed). SS(StormShadow) is a year old, Kira is 11 months
They don’t like each other, they share a common area, though they both come out at separate times. They can get to each other’s cages and They used to fight through the bars, but haven’t since their spays.
We’ve done three sessions, two in the tub and one in a small pin in the kitchen. All three were pretty much the same, Kira goes to SS and lowers her head to get groomed, SS ignores her, Kira gets fed up and bites, they scuffle. There’s been nips, some tuffs of hair pulled out, a little boxing, SS stomps a lot. No humping.
Admittedly, I have been pretty proactive about breaking up the scuffles pretty quickly.

        What do you think?
I hear, “yes girls can be bonded, it just takes longer” but I’m having difficulty finding any success stories with girl pairs. Has anyone here done it? What was your experience?
        Thanks!

Tried session four today in a small box, with the intention of carrying them around and shake the box a little if they fight. What a disaster. They fought the second they went in. Shakes, yelling, banging, nothing would make them stop. They tried to fight through the dust pan I used to separate them. I put them back in their cages and just cried a bit. Any tips would be appreciated.

As you can see from my thread, I don’t know much about bonding – this is my first time too. However girl pairs exist. When I was at the humane society a couple of weeks ago to adopt Daisy there was a pair of spayed, bonded sisters. They were adorable medium size lops scheduled to be picked up that very day by their new family.

Don’t despair! I’m sure some more experienced people will help.

Yeah, I see a fair number of girl pairs, just never anyone who’s like “yeah I bonded two girls!” Lol. Makes me start to wonder how all these girls got together. Ha

                I haven’t bonded 2 girls yet. I do plan on it though… in a few months…
Keep at it. I do believe based on reading – that it is possible. Just as 2 males are possible.
Find a method that works. If it doesnt’ work – try something else. When my 2 nipped and fought, I did a week of bunny smoosh, and kept my hand on their heads, so there was no chance of nipping. I did this for a week solid. Then I allowed them to move sver so slowly, on their own, always with my hand on the head of the aggressor. I did this to reduce the chance of initial fighting. If stress bonding is a bad idea at the moment, try the smoosh. By doing it for at least a week, it’s like wearing them down and teaching them that they need to accept eachother’s close presence. Go reeeeaaalll slow in the beginning.
