Hey everyone, since Philomena has had tummy troubles (blockage of the cecum and prone to stasis) she has been on a limited pellet diet. She has timothy 24/7 she gets a bowl full of kale, romaine, and either cilantro or parsley in the morning and at night. She gets about a small handful (like the size of a quarter amount) of timothy based pellets in the mornings and evenings after she had her salad. I put the pellets in a toilet paper roll and fold the edges so she has to work to get them out. She loves it.

Anyway, she has become very demanding… When i walk into the kitchen (not even at nomnom times) she will either follow me or chew on her playpen. If I g to the closet with her hay and food she will growl and thump at me to hurry up. It breaks my heart because she is so cute when she begs and it makes me want to give her all the treats in the world.

My question is am I feeding her enough? I mean shes only three pounds and has unlimited hay. Or is she just a really demanding bunny with strong piggy tendencies?

Anyone else have a pushy bun?

You are feeding her enough, I think she’s demanding because she’s getting less then usual… don’t feel bad! Just keep on giving her the amount you are now and once in a while give her a treat but make her do some exercise to get it! I hope this helped?

It sounds like she’s fed enough. Sometimes all bunnies want to do is eat eat eat. My bunny is the same way. Maybe she’s bored and just wants to chew something? Maybe get her some chew toys. That usually works for me.

Sounds like my pair, Guin and Lancelot. Lancelot acts starving, even though he has picked up weight since coming home with me. He has gotten better about it though. Give it some time. Weigh her once a week, and you’ll know that way if she is eating enough. But sounds good to me.

I thought all buns were like that. Granted my last one was Blackjack who i had back close to 30 years ago and now I have little Willow, but if anyone goes near the fridge, it’s like magic, a bunny appears. I hand her a sprig of cilantro or a leaf of lettuce any time I am in it. Perhaps I’m teaching bad manners, but I think it’s cute.

                    Thanks everybun!
                    Vanessa: She’s 3lbs
Bera: I’ve tried toys, she just wants food. So I atleast try to make the food more entertaining for her.
Ivy: Trust me I certainly make sur she works for those treats. She usually has to either spin, tiptoe, or hop up on mama’s lap and give kisses for her treats.

Do you give her pellets once a day? Try splitting the same amount into two servings so she thinks she’s being fed twice.
My buns definitely prefer this! They’re greedy little goobers.

You can also hand feed pieces of hay or just give her lots of pets/attention (if she enjoys this) when she’s begging for food. My girl will sometimes accept affection in place of treats.

It sounds like she’s being fed plenty, but keep an eye on her weight if you’re concerned.

I give my buns 1/4 cup pellets each twice a day, and veggies 2-3 times a day. They get use to it. Just weigh her once a week, she will be fine. It might take a while, and maybe she will always act starving. I thought Lancelot would always act starving. But 4 months later, he is calming down.
