Hello!  We’ve been reading the forums for a while, but we have finally joined.  We brought home our bun today (who my son named Sora.)  We are quite happy!  I’ve wanted bunnies since long before I even had kids (though couldn’t because of housing), so it is exciting that this is the sort of pet my boy is into as well.  He fell in love with this “white one with black spots.”   Sora (who is young, about 2 months old) was happy to come home today.  He has been excitedly exploring his cage and then part of the room.  He comes right up to my son and me as well.  He seems quite curious and seems excited to “show off” what he can do when we get closer.  My boy is over the moon.  He has been doing rabbit research for the past month, learning about everything his rabbit would need, and what it takes to love a rabbit.

That’s great your son is being so active in Sora’s care. Curious, was Sora named after a character in the games Kingdom Hearts? Welcome!

Haha! Yes, Sora is named for the Kingdom Hearts character. That is also who my son is being for Halloween. He loves Kingdom Hearts and it’s an old family favorite game. We want to get a female bunny companion in the future as a companion (after this one is well adjusted and neutered), and I’m sure that one will be Kairi. Sora is doing really well! He comes running to the door when we come near his space to come out and play. The little man is doing well in taking care of the bunny (although he draws the line at poop scooping!) He is giving a presentation tomorrow at his co-op about bunny needs and his new bunny.

That’s awesome! And a perfect name for a companion.

Welcome and congrats on your new addition ! Great to get the little one to research on buns beforehand, that’s the best way for them to learn.
                      Enjoy!!

It fits in well this year because we homeschool and we are doing life science this year, so all the projects and reading we did about bunnies fit right into our science.
