I have an eight-year-old rabbit with a lump on her belly. She seems to be getting along fairly well otherwise, considering her age. I am interested in opinions from other people who care about their pets whether it is kinder to take her to the vet and put her through invasive surgery with unknown outcomes, or let nature take its course and pamper her for the rest of her days with us.

She had a lump excised successfully about a year ago, and I declined sending it to check it for malignancy, since it would not change her treatmtent. I am presuming it is likely to be cancer because she is an older rabbit.

Sorry to pop in with such a downer of a topic, but I am having a hard time figuring out what to do.

I’m a little confused. Is it the cost or the age of the rabbit that is the larger factor ? A biopsy on the previous lump could have shed some light on the situation.

How would knowing it was cancerous not change the treatment ? What was the treatment ?
