I’ve done quite a bit or research about neutering my Bun. I know what vet I’m going to use and everything but, I am wondering about a few things. Should i be concerned because he’s nearly 5? Is there more of a risk because he’s a little older. Also because his personality is already so ingrained, do you think it will change his personality at all? And because he is an older bunny is it worth it to put him through all the stress and pain of the procedure?

Unless there are behavioral issues, I probably wouldn’t at this point, since neutering is more for behavioral problems, unlike in females where it’s a major health risk to leave bunny unfixed. What is your reason for wanting him neutered?

Well, he’s actually a really good bunny, no behavioral problems, but I heard that it can make him live substantially longer. That’s why I want to get it done. I take very good care of him, he’s all indoor. He’ll probably live a while just due to those things. Do you think that it’s foolish to get him neutered?

If he doesn’t have any behavioral problems and you’re not planning to get him a bunny friend, he doesn’t have to be neutered to live long. Girl rabbits need to be de-sexed though, it has significant impact on their longevity since cancers of the reproductive organs are so common in middle-aged female rabbits.

Okay, so I don’t think I will get him neutered then, I’ve just read so much about “longer, happier lives” when they are spayed or neutered. If its not necessary to put him through all that though, then i definitely don’t want to.i appreciate all the help!
