We recently adopted a 3 year old spayed female holland lop bunny. The day we brought her home she nibbled my hand when I was petting her in her cage. Then the other day when she was having free time she came up to me and nibbled my foot I have had bunnies for years and never been nibbled lol I’m just wondering why she may be doing this? I don’t know if she would bite harder if she had the chance? Could it be because she is stressed? how do I know ? Thanks so much for your help… I have looked everywhere for this information.

Mine will dig at my foot and bite it in the kitchen when she wants her greens ahead of me putting it on the floor. I assume this may be a habit from her previous home.

Some bunnies are nibblers. My Olivia will bite my feet, hard sometimes! I take it she doesn’t like feet. To try to curb the behavior, you can try a squeal so she know it hurts you.

As for biting/nibbling while you are petting her in her cage, some bunnies, especially females are territorial and don’t want people in their space. So that part could be territorial or that she’s just a nibbly bunny.

Squealing did help for me, my bunny used to scratch and bite occasionally and I’ll squeal and turned my back on her as suggested by some peeps here and she’ll run around to face me every time!
